Mangaweka FAKES & FORGERIES - OPENED on SAT 30th NOV. Runs to Sun 9th Feb 2020!
$69.00
Mangaweka was the place to be on Sat 20th of Nov! (and still is, as the Exhibition is NOW ON till Sun 9th Feb 2020!)
Saturday 30th Nov saw Mangaweka transformed into the Arts capitol of NZ, with the biennial Fakes & Forgeries festival, inspired by legendary Rangitikei born and raised artist, Karl F Sim (aka Goldie). The fun began at 10am with the openings of the combined Schools Art Exhibition at the Village Hall featuring Artworks created by the Rangitikei Districts schools and in the Fire-Station was a Massive Book-Fair with hundreds of books and titles on offer, accompanied by Devonshire Teas & Scones. At 11am the Adults Fakes and Forgeries Exhibition opened with much Fan-Fare at Mangaweka 'Yellow Church' Gallery with over 50 dazzling Artworks on display, including a very special huge sized 'Colin McMahon' which was actually involved in a legal dispute, due to the theft of the original, which is a very-apt must see. The fun continued throughout the day with Artist Julie Oliver creating three big new Murals outside, with help from visiting youngsters (all paints etc provided). Visitors also enjoyed the Mangaweka Christmas Markets in the Museum grounds, where crafts and second-hand goods were scooped up by eager Christmas shoppers. People requiring refreshments were delighted by the newly re-opened 'Dukes Roadhouse' Café, serving abundant food and Havana Coffees. At 1.30pm the winning Artists and prizes were presented at the Yellow Church Gallery, with complimentary drinks and nibbles enjoyed by all attending. So if you missed this fantastic day in Little Old Mangaweka DON'T WORRY! as the main Exhibition is running right through to Sunday the 9th of February 2020. So hop in the car, jump on your bike, or take a quick hike to see the greatest Forgeries Exhibition on Earth TODAY!!! (Original Poster still available for sale A3 Size - $69)
