Take a drive out this anniversary weekend and come meet Artist GRAHAM CHRISTENSEN during his ARTIST IN RESIDENCE WEEKEND - Jan 23/24/25 at Mangaweka's 'Yellow Church' Gallery on SH1.
Rural artist Graham Christensen will be onsite at the Yellow Church Gallery in Mangaweka over Wellington Anniversary weekend. From 11am - 4pm daily Graham will be demonstrating his painting technique and visitors will have the opportunity to discuss his work and ask questions.
Graham's exhibition Rural Recollections opened in March 2020 at the the Yellow Church Gallery but unfortunately closed just a week later due to Covid19.
Rural Recollections has since re-opened as 'Rural Recollections Re-visited' and includes new works completed over lockdown.
Yellow Church Gallery, SH 1, Mangaweka. The gallery will be open 11am - 4pm Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Admission is free.
Graham Christensen did not pick up an artist's brush until his early 60's but quickly showed a natural talent with oils and a great affinity with the rural landscape.
He lives on a farm near Palmerston North in the Manawatu region and works from a large, light-filled studio - a converted room at the back of the barn.
Graham exhibits regularly in the Manawatu/Rangitikei region and also has exhibited extensively in Queensland with his works being collected in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
Graham's paintings depict his life-long love of farming and the rugged landscape that New Zealand offers. His latest works are a reminiscence of rural life and moments in time that make up the rich tapestry of our farming communities and their significant place in our country's history.
So come see Graham, have a chat, watch him while at work with his brush, ask questions, yet more importantly drop by to simply enjoy a day out while viewing some truly stimulating art!
Graham will be at the Yellow Church Gallery, on SH1 in Mangaweka, on Saturday 23, Sunday 24 and Monday 25 of January 2021, from 11am to 4pm each day.
